Life is full of tough decisions

I was in Walgreen's at lunch today at and they had these up by the front register...

I swear I would have bought them if I had not already paid in the pharmacy in the back of store!

Aren't they cool!?!? And they are SOOOOOOO me.

The Christini`

2 parts Orange Vodka
1 part pineapple juice
splash grenadine

Shake well and serve in a chilled martini glass.

Saturday night Dunnski and I went to dinner with some friends at Palermo Viejo. I had ordered my usual fruity drink and then later asked the bartender to make me something she thought I might like. She threw the above ingredients together and I tried it, it was very tasty! She then asked me what my name was. She told me she was going to name the new drink after me. Pretty cool huh!?!? So, the next time you are in Palermo Viejo, try The Christini`, you won't be sorry.

I would pull my hair out...

but I am having a really good hair day.

I work in the Telecom industry. I just have one thing to say. Carrier Access Billing aka CABS, sucks big ones!

That is all, carry on with whatever you were doing.

Do you ever...

have one of those dreams at night that just stays with you during the next day? I dream almost every night. Most of the time they are silly and do not make any sense. But, some nights, they are so real. Last night I dreamed that my Dad was in a car wreck going to work. I was at home getting ready for work and a police woman came to the door and told me that I had 'lost' my Dad in a car accident. When she first told me this, I thought they meant they couldn't find him. She then said he had died in the wreck. I was so upset, I cannot even begin to explain the feelings. I left home and went to the hospital and he was there and he was alive, he was just badly burned. He was sitting up in the bed and talking to me. I was so relieved that he was OK.

This morning when I woke up, I was so drained. I felt like I had been up all night crying. It seemed so real. So real, that today my head even hurts like I have been crying for a long period of time. Does this ever happen to anyone else?

2 more weeks!!!

And I cannot wait!!

I know that Dunnski will be sacrificing a lot sitting through a 2, maybe 3 hour Michael Buble show. So, I hope he can daydream about summer when we have tix to the Sox!!!

Another eventful evening...

comes to a close. My youngest was dancing around and swinging my bedroom door around. She decided to shut the door but forgot that her left hand was in the other side of the doorway, where the hinges are. Once the door smashed her index finger flatter than a pancake and it turned three different colors, she started breathing again, and then the crying started. I immediately put ice on it and gave her Advil. But I was worried it was broken, so we headed to the nearest ICC, which just happens to be less than a mile from the house. As we were leaving my ex called to talk to the girls, so my oldest fills him in and he is on his way home from work so he meets us at the ICC office. I was a little worried about this since we do like to argue, but we were able to act like calm civilized adults for the 55 minutes that we were together. The doctor x-rayed her little hand and her finger is not broken, just very badly bruised. We brought home a latex glove and I filled it with ice and she is sleeping with my homemade ice pack on her sore little flat finger.

What a day!

My oldest competed in her first archery competition on Saturday*. After six rounds, her final score was a 235/300. Not bad for her first tournament. I received an email today from the coach that they will be heading to the state competition in March. So, a few more weeks to practice, practice, practice!

*sitting on a wooden bleacher for 3 hours can be very butt numbing. *Note to self* - must find a seat cushion for Dunnski and Charmed before State Finals!!!

Gotta watch it

One of our newest favorite shows is Last Restaurant Standing, it is on Tuesday nights on BBC. It just started last week, and I am pretty sure they show the previous weeks episode the following week (before the new one). So, tune in and watch it!!

Every woman should know...

By MAYA ANGELOU

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....

something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..

a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....

a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....

a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

a feeling of control over her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .

whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
or a charming Inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...

What she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month...and a year...

Update

Just had the first weigh in with The Biggest Loser Contest at work...and I am now
2.2 lbs lighter!!!

I am such a nerd

I am sitting at my desk rocking out to Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana. I lifted the CD from my daughters room this morning.

Wow....Flo-Rida last night, Hannah this morning.

For some strange reason...I don't see them touring together.

I've got to get me some of them applebottom jeans...

Wanna know what sucks?

I was getting in my trunk and I had left the keys in the lock. I reached up to shut the trunk and had the keys in my hand and the wind gusted to like 98 mph and the trunk blew up. Well....the key was halfway out of the lock at the time. I went ahead and shut the trunk and then my key would not come out, I messed with it for a few seconds and it finally came free. I walk around to unlock the door and guess what?

The damn key is now bent. I was able to get the door open but the car will only start by putting the key in one way now. Shit.

I am sooooo good!

My youngest has been wanting to play softball since last year. So, Dunnski and I have been looking everywhere for a glove that will fit her little hand. Not a stiff new one, one that is used and broken in...but not beat to death. Most used ones we can find cost more than the new ones!

Today for lunch I headed to the Peddlers Mall to mosey around and guess what I found!?!?!?! A Louisville Slugger kids glove, it was perfectly broken in and just the right size. Only one problem...it didn't have a price on it, so I took it to the counter and asked the cashier to call the booth owner and see how much she wanted for it. She called her and to my surprise she turned to me and said, "She said she'll take $1.99 for it." OMG! One dollar and ninety nine cents!!! Below is a pic of what it looks like, I am so excited!!

Wordless Wednesday

WTF?

I need to vent.

I would have been on time for work this morning. Why are drivers sooooooo stupid? Why do people feel like they have to slow down to 12 mph on the expressway to look at a couple of parked cars on the side of the road? Do they not understand that there are like 9,743 cars behind them trying to get somewhere on time?!?!?!? This irritates me more than the blister I have on my 4th toe that my cute little Mary Jane's gave me yesterday.

And another thing. Why is every umbrella I own...broken?

On a much brighter note. I have been a very good girl lately, so Dunnski rewarded me with a new Vera Wang coat. I have never been so excited about it being cold outside.

Isn't she beautiful????

Ever feel like this?

I decided to wear my knee high black boots today, because they totally matched the poncho I was wearing. Well, 10.5 hours later when we returned home from a very busy day...I thought I was going to die my feet hurt so bad. But, I looked cute, and sometimes that is all that matters.

Huh?

Slap your Grandma good!

We had breakfast at Toast on Market this morning before heading to the Orchestra. Wow. It was so great! I would recommend it anyone if you are downtown.

I had the Lemon Souffle pancakes, delicate and full of lemon flavor topped with fresh blueberry syrup and vanilla custard sauce. Oh. My. Gawd.

*Here is an article from the CJ about Toast.

I love it!!

Went back to the dentist today

to get my other two cavities filled. I swear the dentist used like 3 different kind of drills on my top back tooth. He was all up in there and turned sideways, it wasn't pretty. Ended up having to get two shots, my mouth and face are SO numb. I am sitting at my desk trying to eat a salad on the right side of my mouth and food keeps falling out of my mouth...and I am not aware of it. Until I look down and see little bits of cheese stuck all over my shirt. HAWT! I have food on my face, again, I have no clue. I keep feeling this hard thing that I am biting on in my mouth. Hmmmmm....I wonder to myself, what could that be? Then I start to taste blood. I have been eating the inside of my own mouth. Yummy!

Excuse me, waiter - I need a tall Pomapolitan with a twist of lime, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Kids...

Update: The show was awesome and very entertaining. The kids loved it as well as the adults. Great way to spend a Saturday morning.

We have tickets to the take the girls to Cirque Capriccio this weekend at The Louisville Orchestra. So, the other night at dinner, Dunnski was telling the girls about it. The youngest immediately thought we were going to the circus (why, I have no clue), and began to ask about the elephants and clowns. The teenager began to tell us she had a very hectic social calendar and was not sure she could squeeze us in. Ahhhh....excuse me???? So I happily cleared her calendar for her and now she has all day clear. I really love being a mom.

This does look like like fun though...I have included a little paragraph about it below if you are interested.

About Cirque Capriccio:

Cirque Capriccio is a creation from former Cirque du Soleil acrobats Peter Boulanger & Ninon Parent. Peter & Ninon began their careers at Montreal’s National Circus School where they met in 1988. From there they toured with Cirque du Soleil for two years before moving to Vancouver, B.C. to develop their unique apparatus, Tesseract. The audience learns how music and movement intertwine using a mix of acrobatics, ranging from the dramatics of the Tesseract act to the out right silliness of Teeterboard. Cirque Capriccio is designed to amaze and inspire audiences across all age groups.

Mmmmm.......

Ummmm....Not that I would know that these were yummy. That is the word on the street. Because, I am on a diet. And, I would NOT have stopped at at McD's this morning and ate these delightful little rolls with warm icing drizzled over the top. Or licked the little plastic container they were baked in to get the last little bit of cinnamony goodness out of the corners. I am a better person than that.
