Awesome CD

Here Kitty!!

The Woman in Grey

Two gentlemen were working in a small Midwestern town's general store.
The store was quiet and no customers were shopping until she walked in.
A small frail woman dressed in grey entered the store, and proceeded toward the dairy section, saying nothing.
She picked up a glass container of milk, and without paying for it or even glancing at the gentlemen, walked out of the store.
The men, surprised by the woman's thievery, hurried out of the store after her...but she was gone.
The next day, the incident occurred again.
The same small woman dressed in the same grey dress entered the store, grabbed a glass container of milk, and left without paying.
Again the men tried to follow after her, but found her nowhere to be seen.
The very next day, the woman appeared once again.
The same small woman, dressed in the same grey dress, entered the store, paid no attention to the men, snatched a glass container of milk, and vanished out the door.
The men, slightly more prepared this time, quickly followed the woman out of the store.
She hurried down the town's main street and the men found themselves having to run to keep up with her.
She hastily turned down a dirt path, just at the edge of the woods.
This is where the men lost her.
They trekked on further and came to a small cemetery neither of them knew existed.
Suddenly, they heard a small noise.
Concentrating, they identified it as a baby's was coming from the ground.
The ground from which it was coming from was in front of a gravestone marking the death of a mother and her infant who were buried together.
The dirt was fresh and the ground was newly broken.
Unsure of what else to do, the men quickly found shovels and exhumed the coffin.
The crying became louder as they dug.
When they reached the coffin, they pried off the lid and inside found the small, grey-dressed woman...dead...with a live, crying infant in her arms...and three empty glass containers of milk. The poor child was mistakenly buried alive and the spirit of her deceased mother kept her alive until she was found.

True story...

My oldest, Cork, has been helping with the laundry. She decided that she would wash a load the other night, after I had gone to bed. So, instead of waking me to ask me to get up and come and look if the color combo was OK -
She took a picture with the digital camera, and woke me up to show me the image on the camera.

I wish I was kidding.

Beautiful Bernheim

Dunnski and I took a nature walk Sunday in Bernheim Forest. The weather was perfect. Here are some of the pics I took along the way...

It was my first time...and somewhat painful

Has anyone had the chance to use this handy dandy little machine yet?

Well, today was my first time, and let me say, I have mixed feelings. It's a little needy. It asks a lot of questions. And it takes a bit of time to complete. And, can be a little nerve racking. Especially when you have a line of sighing people behind you waiting impatiently.

I do have to say that it was quicker than waiting in the snail line to see a clerk at the windows. If you have ever visited the Post Office in Middleton, you know what I mean. There is ALWAYS a line.

So, the next time you have a package to send, try the APC, and let me know what you think.

A great day...

Dunnski and I headed down to Glendale, Ky yesterday. Wow, the trees are really starting to turn. It was a very nice drive down Interstate 65.

Our original intent was to dine at The Depot, but once we arrived we did a little shopping as well. Here is a picture of a really cute chair I found, the cushion is red checker pattern.

After walking around for a while we were starving, so we walked to the restaurant. The Depot was amazing. The food was spectacular, you can view their menu by clicking on the link above. Southern cuisine at its best. One note, the county the restaurant is located in is dry, so if you will want wine with your dinner, you will have to bring your own. I highly recommend you visit, if you live in the area, you will not be disappointed.

The feeling surprised me...

I left work a little early today, traffic has been horrible with all the rain and I needed to get gas. I made it home with a little extra time to spare before I had to pick up my youngest at the Y, so I ran into the store to pick up a few groceries. I walked past the aisle that had the Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. I had a few extra minutes so I browsed around a while. And then it hit me. It felt so good. I had almost forgotten what it felt like, to be genuinely excited about the holidays. For so long I had dreaded the time off from work, having to spend time with someone I didn't enjoy spending time with. I am so glad that part of my life is over and behind me. This year, the holidays will be wonderful.

What do you think?

I think the dude from NC looks alot like JT. Which, I think makes the song below so funny.

This is my favorite childhood memory at Halloween...

The song...As the Witches go Flying Along, found on the record below. My brothers and I played this record ALL THE TIME. I can remember us running around the house singing the songs on snow days during the winter (after Christmas), I know my Mom wanted to strangle us! We were such nerds!!

The Wonderland Singers And Accompaniment "Spooky Halloween" (Wonderland Records, LP-293, 1974)

As the Witches Go Flying Along
Way up high, in the sky, you can see them going by,
As the witches go flying along.
Here and there, in the air, you can see them everywhere,
As the witches go flying along.

Every one is on her broom,
Singing a Halloween song.

In the bright moonlight, it's really quite a sight,
As the witches go flying along.
As the witches go flying along!

How to properly hug a baby

This is the cutest damn thing I have seen in a long time!!!

Maraka the Explorer

Chad and Santana kick ass!

It still makes me cry...

After dinner, I was straitening up the kitchen and the girls were watching Hannah Montana. The episode with the song below was on. The first time I heard this song, it made me cry. And tonight, I cried again. This song makes me so sad.

I've got to go to Minnesota!!

Does anybody remember the Cheesarito from Taco Bell back from the 80's and early 90's?? It was my favorite menu item! I would order it every day when I was in college. When they took it off the menu, I would order it special and they would continue to make it for me. Mmmmm.....Cheesarito...yummy.

Apparently I am not the only one that was addicted to the little boogers:

*Cheesarito Description: This discontinued burrito had Mexican Pizza sauce, two helpings of cheddar cheese and green onions, all nicely steamed and melted.Never got to try this (thanks for the info Grace!) but thankfully there seem to be Taco Bells that still make this!Julie's Opinion: I still order this. I usually have to tell them how to make it. But it is sooooo worth it. Mmmm. . . . . warm melted cheesy goodness. This is the best old school item!

*Up here in Minnesota you can still get Cheesaritos at Taco Bell. You have to specifically ask for them, however. They still have the "cheesarito" button on the cash register, even though they don't list them on any of the menu boards, the sneaky bastards. Its like a special secret between the Bell and certain customers.

First Jay song?, I can't remember, it would've been whatever the first one he sang, at the first Uncle Tupelo show I saw in St. Louis. That was LONG ago. My FAVORITE "Jay song" story though... Back in "the day", Jay used to be a big fan of the, now long extinct, Cheesarito, at Taco Bell. After Taco Bell discontinued Jay's favorite item, he used to try to describe to Taco Bell employees, how to make one. They'd never quite get it right. He'd, generally, eat whatever concoction they'd whip up, per his instructions, and wonder why they couldn't figure it out. JUMP AHEAD 4 OR 5 YEARS..... I was on the road, with the Bottle Rockets. We pulled into a Taco Bell, on the way out of Minneapolis. I check out the menu, THEY STILL HAVE THE CHEESARITO!!! Gotta be the last one in the whole country. I HAD to get it, just to see what all the fuss was about. I get my Cheesarito, sit down, unwrap it, and, I SWEAR TO GOD THIS IS TRUE, at the exact moment I bite into the Cheesarito... "Drown" comes on the Taco Bell "music service"!!! I ain't lyin', it was friggin' weird! I've never seen a Cheesarito again. I've never heard Jay in Taco Bell again. What's it mean? Brian P.S. The Cheesarito was good. They should've never discontinued it...

Sweater weather is here!

Not what I'd expected

to see when I got home this afternoon. My builder was at the house today when I left for work this morning. I thought he was going to fix the water problem in my basement. My house is only a year old. I walked in the doorway thru the garage earlier and what did I hear? The sound of running water!! OMG! I rush downstairs and there is one of those big blue storage containers (the ones you buy at Walmart to store crap in) catching the water. WTF? It is empty, how can that be? Water is running into it? Was the builder just here?? I find a flashlight and upon further inspection I see that he has poked a hole about the size of a quarter in the bottom corner of the container. The container is cleverly placed over an open spot on the top of the sump pump. So, you see where I am going with this??? When the water fills the bottom of the container, it empties into the sump pump. Short term solution - yes. Long term solution - hell no.

Everybody should have someone that makes them feel "bubbly"

I've been awake for a while now
you've got me feelin like a child now
cause every time I see your bubbly face
I get the tinglies in a silly place

It starts in my toes
makes me crinkle my nose
where ever it goes I always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go

The rain is fallin on my window pane
but we are hidin in a safer place
under the covers stayin dry and warm
you give me feelins that I adore

It starts in my toes
makes me crinkle my nose
where ever it goes
I always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go

What am I gonna say
when you make me feel this way
I just........

It starts in my toes
makes me crinkle my nose
where ever it goes
I always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go

I’ve been asleep for a while now
You tucked me in just like a child now
Cause every time you hold me in your arms
I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth

It starts in my soul
And I lose all control
When you kiss my nose
The feelin shows
Cause you make me smile
Baby just take your time
Holdin me tight

Where ever, where ever, where ever you go
Where ever, where ever, where ever you go...

It's Tuesday morning at 6:30 am, and something tells me that water should not be pouring out of my basement wall. It's just a hunch. That might explain why my 'effin sump pump ran every 10 seconds last night. Which, by the way is conveniently located right below the Master Bedroom. NICE.

Deceptively Delicious

While in Atlanta, Lynn, Dunnski's SIL, introduced me to a new cookbook, Deceptively Delicious. She had made a couple of the recipes and I tried them before she told me what ingredients she used. She made a blueberry crumble bar and a brownie, they were both really good. I would never have known that they both had veggies in the ingredients. I may have to add this cookbook to my Christmas list!

We all need a little motivation...

No internet, what am I going to do?

I don't think I mentioned in my previous posts, that I have not had internet connection since returning from vacation. This really sucks big ones. Dunnski and I have both spent many hours on the phone, with no luck. I was to receive a call from a technician today who was supposed to come to the house to check the outside wiring. It is now 4:22 and I have not received a call from Mr. Technician, I don't think he is going to call. This REALLY sucks big ones. Since the little man with the Indian accent told me, over the phone last night, that my internet would be fixed by 8:00 pm tonight. Sigh....

Vacation is over already?

It was a great week - we started with a quick stop in Atlanta to visit with Dunnski's brother, Scott, and his wife, Lynn. They had scored us some cool tickets to Six Flags over GA, so the boys could ride Superman. While the guys waited in the never ending line, Lynn and I managed to pay 8 bucks a piece for a cheeseburger.'s amazing what you will do when you are hungry.

Destin was wonderful, despite the Red Tide, that happened to come ashore just about the time we came to town. No matter, it didn't break our spirit. The shopping was fantastic, was able to pick up a few early Christmas presents at Le Creuset. And for the girls, tons of new clothes at Aeropostale and The Children's Place.

Dunnski surprised me one morning with a trip to the spa that included a 50 minute massage, I am still feeling loosey goosey. My brother and his wife came down for a few nights, so we had a date night at Osaka Sushi Rocks. If you are ever in Destin, I highly recommend you dine there, it was the best sushi I have ever eaten.

We stopped at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, in Huntsville, AL on the way home.

Saturday night was the Nickel Creek
Which we ended with a midnight snack at The Raw Sushi Lounge. Have I mentioned I really like sushi?

JP, this one's for you.

I got tagged. These are rules: I cannot repeat anything the other survey taker said and I have to list "5 things that I do, did, like or want that I’m proud of, but that others may think are totally lame". Plus, I get to tag 5 people to do the same. Okay, I am with Maria on this one, I will play along, but tag 5 people! I really don't wanna piss 5 people off this early in the week, so just sit back and have a laugh on me!

1. I have a REALLY sick obsession with sushi, I could eat it everyday. The Raw Sushi Lounge downtown on 4th is excellent!

2. I have Degenerative Disc Disease in my lower back. I had never had back problems until a ruptured disc injury in August of 2000, I have had pain every day since then.

3. More days than not, I find myself wanting another baby. I know, scares the hell out of me too!

4. I think I want my next vehicle to be a mini-van, I loved the room and that the kids couldn't touch each other. And hey, Dunnski did look good behind the wheel of the Caravan.

5. I am proud of myself. That is all. The last year has been very hard.

Amen Sister!

My 12 year old is 5'6" and weighs 125 lbs, and she is beautiful. She is mature for her age, but in today's world, most girls are. But, like most girls her age, she thinks she is fat. No matter how many times we tell her she isn't, she still thinks she is. And that scares the hell out of me.

Tri-County alert...

My oldest daughter has joined the archery team at her school. She had her first practice last night and she loved it! When I dropped her off, I was a little shocked to see that they would be practicing in a building. I just assumed it would be outside. After completing the required paperwork, in case she should need medical attention, I was quickly shewed out of the building, apparently I was embarrassing her by my presence. But, I really didn't want to hang around in a big metal building full of teenagers shooting arrows.
